10 de abr. de 2024 · The song “The Monkey Doodle Doo” was written for the 1925 Broadway musical The Cocoanuts, which is famously known as the film debut of the Marx Brothers. It was introduced by Polly Potter in the musical as entertainment before the character Mr. Hammer (played by Groucho Marx) starts auctioning off land plots in Florida.

The Marxes made a silent short 8 years earlier in 1921 which has been lost, but this surviving feature was set to start filming in 1928 (a silent!) but delayed to 1929, when they had early sound technology.
