There are six parts, screened from Sunday 2 October 1977; the series has not been rescreened as TV One omitted to obtain repeat rights.

The first episode of landmark 1977 historical drama The Governor is a one and a half hour epic. Soon after signing the Treaty of Waitangi, charismatic Ngāpuhi chief Hōne Heke (George Henare) defies British forces, culminating in the battle at Ruapekapeka pā.
The Governor: With Caroline Chikezie, Samuel Abiola Robinson, Taiwo Obileye, Jude Chukwuka. Follows Angela Ochello, who finds herself suddenly entangled in a web of political intrigue after the untimely death of the incumbent Governor.

Season 1. The Governor is in a coma after a road accident. Due to age and a gender bias, the younger Angela, the Deputy Governor but an outsider, is a pariah and unwelcome as the acting Governor. There was a recent secret deal with the Chinese.
