The Lady Vanishes is a 2013 British television mystery thriller film directed by Diarmuid Lawrence, and a co-production of the BBC and Masterpiece Films. It is based on the 1936 novel The Wheel Spins by Ethel Lina White.
Iris Henderson (Margaret Lockwood) has been vacationing in Mandrika, a small European country, and decides to return to London. Just prior to her departure, she meets and befriend the elderly Miss Froy (Dame May Whitty), a governess who will be travelling on the same train.
In Alfred Hitchcock's most quick-witted and devilish comic thriller, the beautiful Margaret Lockwood, traveling across Europe by train, meets a charming spinster (Dame May Whitty), who then seems to disappear into thin air. The younger woman turns investigator and finds herself drawn into a complex web of mystery and high adventure.
