The Seven Lamps of Architecture is an extended essay, first published in May 1849 and written by the English art critic and theorist John Ruskin. The 'lamps' of the title are Ruskin's principles of architecture, which he later enlarged upon in the three-volume The Stones of Venice.

The Seven Lamps of Architecture es un ensayo extendido, publicado por primera vez en mayo de 1849 y escrito por el crítico de arte y teórico inglés John Ruskin. Las «lámparas» del título son los principios de la arquitectura de Ruskin, que luego amplió en The Three of the Stones of Venice.
Ruskin denomina «lámparas de la arquitectura» a las grandes leyes a que el artista debe obedecer, y enumera siete. La primera es la ley del Sacrificio que obliga a ofrecer cosas preciosas, no en cuanto necesarias, sino solamente por preciosas.
