Bourchier was the son of William Bourchier, made Count of Eu in 1419, and Anne, a granddaughter.

THOMAS BOURCHIER (c.1404-1486), English archbishop, Lord Chancellor and cardinal, was a younger son of William Bourchier, count of Eu (d. 1420), and through his mother, Anne, a daughter of Thomas of Woodstock, Duke of Gloucester, was a descendant of Edward III.
Thomas Bourchier (pronounced Bowcher) 1404-1486 was a grandson of Edward III held a variety of senior posts (Chancellor of Oxford University, Bishop of Worcester and later of Ely) before becoming Archbishop of Canterbury in 1454. He became a Yorkist supporter and crowned Edward IV in 1461.
