  1. Thomas Bruce, 2nd Earl of Ailesbury (later styled Aylesbury) and 3rd Earl of Elgin (26 September 1656 – 16 December 1741), styled Lord Bruce between 1663 and 1685, was an English politician and memoirist. He was the son of Robert Bruce, 2nd Earl of Elgin, and Lady Diana Grey.

  3. Thomas Bruce, (1656 - 1741) 3rd Earl of Elgin, 2nd of Ailesbury, 5th of Kinloss, who married Elizabeth Seymour. They had 4 sons: Robert, Charles, Thoas and Henry, the latter two dying young, and two daughters: Mary - died young and Elizabeth who m. George Earl of Cardigan.

  4. Thomas Brudenell-Bruce was created Earl of Ailesbury in 1776, and his son Charles, 1st Marquess of Ailesbury in 1821. The 2nd Marquess succeeded a cousin as 8th Earl of Cardigan in 1868, but did not inherit the Deene (Northamptonshire) estate.
