  2. Thomas Fitzherbert was born on 30 August 1746, the son of Thomas FitzHerbert and his wife Mary Theresa Throckmorton. He was baptised in St Mary's church, Swynnerton, Staffordshire. [1] In 1778 he married Maria Anne Smythe , widow of Edward Weld , but died without children in Italy in 1781.

  3. Three years later, she married Thomas Fitzherbert of Swynnerton, Staffordshire, who was 10 years older than her. The two had a son, who died young. Fitzherbert was widowed again on May 7, 1781. However, this time, her deceased husband had left her an annuity of £1,000 and a house in Park Street, Mayfair.
