14 de may. de 2024 · There were no service-books left and all that could be procured by the chapter clerk were two breviaries: a large one which he obtained from Humphrey Swynnerton and a damaged one given by Sir Thomas Fitzherbert.
Hace 5 días · Orchard House, bearing the dates 1692 and 1694 and the initials of Thomas FitzHerbert (d. 1700), stands south–west of the church, possibly on the site of what was the FitzHerbert manor house until the building of Begbroke Hill.
15 de may. de 2024 · The Easts, noted recusants, were resident at Cokethorpe by 1577; their only daughter Dorothy (d. 1588) married Thomas Fitzherbert, later, in exile, a leading Jesuit. The Easts were still concerned in the manor in 1606, but in 1610 Fitzherbert's son Edward and his wife Bridget sold it to Sir David Williams.
Hace 2 días · Clavile then prov. 25 Jan. 1357 to the precentorship of either Chichester or Lichfield 'which Thomas de Baddeby has unlawfully held for many years' (CPP. 1 293). Clavile chose precentorship of Lichfield, conf. by pope 30 Apr. ( ibid . p. 296).
3 de may. de 2024 · The first of the 'spiritual autobiographies' examined by Hodgkin was written around 1610 by the gentlewoman Dionys Fitzherbert, the unmarried daughter of a rich landowner from Oxfordshire, and has been preserved in its (unpublished) original autograph and two fair copies she had deposited in libraries.
25 de abr. de 2024 · In 1794 Casamajor sold it to Thomas Newt of Gower Street, London, who two years later parted with it to Thomas Fitzherbert of Portsea. Fitzherbert spent a large sum on alterations to the house and grounds, and sold the property in 1802 to John Macqueen, from whom it was purchased by Sir Walter Farquhar, bart.
