Thomas Jefferson (April 13, 1743 – July 4, 1826) was the third president of the United States. Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence , which he and 55 other Founding Fathers signed. He also wrote the Statute of Religious Freedom.

Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson Drafting the Declaration of American Independence, 1776. 3. He created the Jefferson Bible. In an example of his intense anti-clericalism he also created the Jefferson Bible.
