  1. Thomas Wentworth, 2nd Baron Wentworth (1525 – 13 January 1584) was an English peer, courtier, administrator and military commander during the reigns of Edward VI, Mary and Elizabeth. His reputation suffered through the surrender of Calais in 1558, which occurred under his command.

  3. Thomas Wentworth was created first Baron in 1529. He was succeeded by his son, also Thomas Wentworth. The second Baron represented Suffolk in the House of Commons and served as Deputy of Calais . His grandson, Thomas Wentworth, the fourth Baron, was created Earl of Cleveland in the Peerage of England in 1626.

  5. 27 de sept. de 2023 · They had a large family of eight sons and nine daughters, including Thomas, later 2nd Baron Wentworth and Mary, who married Sir William Drury. In 1523, Wentworth took part in Suffolk's failed invasion of France and was knighted by him. In 1529, he was also created Baron Wentworth in the Peerage of England.

The Wentworths were originally from Yorkshire but a branch of the family had settled in Nettlestead, Suffolk in the mid-fifteenth century, where Wentworth was born.
