The Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoye Selo near Saint Petersburg, also known historically as the Imperial Alexander Lyceum after its founder Tsar Alexander I, was an educational institution which was founded in 1811 with the object of educating youths of the best families who would afterwards occupy important posts in the Imperial service.
20 de nov. de 2020 · The Lyceum received its name after prominent Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, who studied in the Lyceum. Alexander Pushkin gave his name to the whole town. As you remember, Tsarskoe Selo is a part of Pushkin-town. In the 19th century, the Lyceum was an institution of higher education for children of nobles families.
From late 1748 until 1756 the construction of the Tsarskoe Selo residence was directed by Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli (1700–1771), the chief architect of the imperial court. On 10 May 1752 Empress Elizabeth signed a decree on the complete reconstruction of the old building and on 30 July 1756 Rastrelli was already presenting his new creation to his crowned mistress and foreign ambassadors.
