  4. City Palace, Udaipur(front view) Udai Singh II initiated the decades long struggle with the Mughals. Early into his reign, Maldev Rathore unsuccessfully invaded Mewar. In 1557, he was defeated by a joint invasion by Haji Khan and Maldeo Rathore in the Battle of Haramada. He is most known for establishing the city of Udaipur.
