25 de nov. de 2014 · 1422 wurde Gripswald zum Lehnsgut erhoben und blieb bis zur Säkularisation kurfürstlicher Besitz. In der Fassade des Rundturms wurden als Dekoration 28 romanische Doppelsäulen aus den Ruinen des zerstörten Kreuzganges des Prämonstratenserklosters St. Maria und Andreas in Knechtsteden bei Dormagen verbaut.
