13 de may. de 2024 · One of the names on the monument in Valençay is that of Violette Szabo, surely the most famous secret agent in the world. I wrote about her in depth in one of my books about Hertfordshire. I gave Thierry and Dominique a copy as a thank you for inviting us.

13 de may. de 2024 · On the 26th June 1988 (Violette would have been 67) a plaque was unveiled to her memory, this reads - "This plaque is placed as an evergreen tribute to VIOLETTE SZABO, GC. British Secret Agent born 26th June 1921, executed by the Gestapo at Ravensbruck during 1945 in deep appreciation of her outstanding courage in England’s hour of need.
7 de may. de 2024 · Violette Szabo was captured by the German army, interrogated, tortured and deported to Ravensbrück concentration camp in Germany, where she was executed. Violette was only on her second mission when she was captured by the Gestapo and sent to a concentration camp.
