Walter Devereux, 10th Baron Ferrers of Chartley, created 1st Viscount Hereford, KG (1488 – 17 September 1558) was an English courtier and parliamentarian . Baron Ferrers. Walter was the son and heir of John Devereux, 9th Baron Ferrers and Cecily Bourchier, [1] a member of the noble Woodville family.
Walter Devereux, 1st Earl of Essex and 2nd Viscount Hereford. Viscount Hereford is the oldest extant viscountcy in the Peerage of England, making the holder the Premier Viscount of England. The title was created in 1550 for Walter Devereux, 10th Baron Ferrers of Chartley. [1]

He was the eldest son of Sir Richard Devereux and the grandson of Walter Devereux, Viscount Hereford, to whose title he succeeded in 1558. Sometime between 1560 and 1565 he married Lettice, daughter of Sir Francis Knollys .
