William Henry Walter Montagu Douglas Scott, 6th Duke of Buccleuch & 8th Duke of Queensberry KG KT PC JP DL (9 September 1831 – 5 November 1914) was a Scottish Member of Parliament and peer. He was the paternal grandfather of HRH Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, and the maternal great-grandfather of HRH Prince William of Gloucester and HRH Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester.

Walter Montagu Douglas Scott was born on 25 November 1806 at Dalkeith House, Midlothian, Scotland. He was the fifth child of seven, and second son born to Sir Charles William Henry Montagu Scott, 4th Duke of Buccleuch & 6th Duke of Queensberry, and the Honourable Harriet Katherine Townshend, daughter of Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney of St. Leonards and Elizabeth Powys.
Lady Elizabeth Diana Montagu Douglas Scott was born on 20 January 1922 to Walter Montagu Douglas Scott, Earl of Dalkeith, later 8th Duke of Buccleuch, and his wife, Mary Lascelles. Her paternal aunt was Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester. She grew up at Eildon Hall in the Scottish Borders.
