It is documented from the 9th century until the 12th century, when it evolved into Middle Low German. It was spoken on the north-west coast of Germany by Saxon peoples.

Germany has very different and distinct cultures and in general, you notice them. There are differences in architecture, language (even though these differences become less in many areas due the spread of standard German as the main tongue above mire local dialects), food, customs and traditions and so on.
