He is celebrated as perhaps the greatest all-round racing car driver of any era, and was known as much for his sportsmanship as his skill on the track. Some of the most famous cars piloted by Sir Stirling Moss were positioned outside the Abbey.

Dirac's childhood home in Bishopston, Bristol is commemorated with a blue plaque, and the nearby Dirac Road is named in recognition of his links with the city of Bristol.
