As with most Ayers albums, a collision of disparate styles confronts the listener but in this instance they work to extremely powerful effect. The title track with Mike Oldfield's guitar accompaniment and Robert Wyatt's wracked harmonies would become a template for Ayers subsequent '70s output.

Another highlight of WHATEVERSHEBRINGSWESING is the 8mns title track, a gorgeous ballad KEVIN knows how to compose, a sweet gorgeous piece sung by KEVIN joined by the fragile sounding voice of pal ROBERT WYATT on the chorus.This is all charming with the beautiful female backing vocals in the background talking about having good time with a -again- good glass of wine.

Somewhat all over the map (but then, what Ayers album isn't?) but containing some of his absolute best tunes, starting with the bizarrely gorgeous title track with an earwormy chorus (featuring lovely harmonies from former Soft Machine bandmate Robert Wyatt) and sparkling guitar by Mike Oldfield.

Flipping the album over to Side 2 we get the title track, “Whatevershebringswesing”, another long track at 8:13, very laid back and mellow. This has Kevin’s old Soft Machine band mate on backing vocals, Robert Wyatt.
