Sir William Berkeley (/ ˈ b ɑːr k l iː /; 1605 – 9 July 1677) was an English colonial administrator who served as the governor of Virginia from 1660 to 1677. One of the Lords Proprietors of the Province of Carolina, as governor of Virginia he implemented policies that bred dissent among the colonists and sparked Bacon's Rebellion.

1. Vida y obra. George Berkeley, hijo del inglés William Berkeley y de la irlandesa Elisabeth Southerne, nació el 12 de marzo de 1685 en el condado de Kilkenny, Irlanda. En 1700 ingresó a la universidad de Dublín, conocida como Trinity College, de la que se graduó en 1704.
Sir William Berkeley (1605-1677) was governor of Virginia longer than any other man, from 1642 until 1652 and from 1660 until his death in 1677. He advocated economic diversification and promoted trade between the colonists and the Virginia Indians.
