William Barker Cushing (born Nov. 4, 1842, Delafield, Wis., U.S.—died Dec. 17, 1874, Washington, D.C.) was a U.S. naval officer who won acclaim for his daring exploits for the Union during the American Civil War (1861–65).

William Barker Cushing (4 November 1842 – 17 December 1874) was an officer in the United States Navy, best known for sinking the CSS Albemarle during a daring nighttime raid on 27 October 1864, for which he received the Thanks of Congress.

Harvey Williams Cushing (Cleveland, 1869 - New Haven, 1939) Cirujano estadounidense considerado el fundador de la moderna neurocirugía. Formado en las universidades de Yale y de Harvard, se doctoró por esta última en 1895 y al año siguiente comenzó a ejercer como cirujano en el Hospital John Hopkins de Baltimore.
Harvey Williams Cushing, célebre por sus estudios sobre la presión sanguínea y la glándula pituitaria, se especializó en neurocirugía. Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, trabajó en un quirófano de Francia, le fue valioso para desarrollar sus investigaciones.
William Cushing (born March 1, 1732, Scituate, Mass. [U.S.]—died Sept. 13, 1810, Scituate) was an American jurist who was the first appointee to the U.S. Supreme Court. Cushing graduated from Harvard in 1751, began studying law, and was admitted to the bar in 1755.
