Sir William Godolphin MP (ca. 1486 – ca. 1570) was a 16th-century English knight, politician, and Member of Parliament . Life. He was the son of Sir John Godolphin, who was High Sheriff of Cornwall in 1505, and his wife Margaret, daughter of John Trenouth. [1]

Sir William Godolphin (1567–1613), of Godolphin in Cornwall, was an English knight, soldier, and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1604 to 1611. Biography. Godolphin was the older son of Sir Francis Godolphin (1540–1608), also an MP and Governor of the Scilly Isles and his first wife, Margaret Killigrew of Arwenack.

Hace 5 días · Sir William Godolphin. Sidney's elder brother Sir William Godolphin was also buried in the south aisle of the nave but he has no monument or gravestone. He was created a Baronet, of Godolphin in the county of Cornwall in 1661 but died unmarried so his title became extinct. He was buried on 3rd September 1710.
Biography. The Godolphins had been seated at the hamlet of that name since Norman times, and by the 16th century they were the leading family in west Cornwall. Much of their wealth was derived from tin, and Leland observed that there were ‘no greater tin works in all Cornwall than be on Sir William Godolphin’s ground’.
