William Philip Molyneux, 2nd Earl of Sefton (18 September 1772 – 20 November 1838), also known as Lord Dashalong, was a sportsman, gambler and a friend of the Prince Regent . Personal life. Born in 1772, Lord Sefton was the only son of Charles Molyneux, 1st Earl of Sefton and Lady Isabella Stanhope, daughter of the Earl of Harrington.

In 1513 he distinguished himself at the battle of Flodden, during which he captured the standard of the Earl of Huntly, a trophy which was hung in Sefton Hall for the remainder of his life. He was Sheriff of Lancashire in 1524-1525 [1] and Lord of Sefton Manor [2] [3].
