Hace 2 días · Eleanor was the eldest child of William X, Duke of Aquitaine, and Aénor de Châtellerault. She became duchess upon her father's death in April 1137, and three months later she married Louis, son of her guardian King Louis VI of France. Shortly afterwards, Louis VI died and Eleanor's husband ascended the throne, making Eleanor queen consort.

Stephen was not able to travel to Normandy and so the situation remained. Geoffrey had found new allies with the Count of Vendôme and, most importantly, William X, Duke of Aquitaine.

Hace 4 días · In 1137, William X, Duke of Aquitaine, appointed the King of the Franks, Louis VI, as the guardian of William's daughter, who became Eleanor of Aquitaine. Louis wasted no time in marrying her to his own sun, also named Louis. King Louis VI died on Aug. 1, 1337, and his son became King Louis VII. The new king's wife became queen.
