Professional career 2013. Peers began the 2013 season playing with fellow Australian John-Patrick Smith, receiving a wildcard into the Australian Open.It was here that Peers gained his first Grand Slam victory, upsetting the Polish duo of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski in their opening match; in the second round they fell to Sergiy Stakhovsky and Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets.
