Albrecht Altdorfer (c. 1480 —12 February 1538) was a German painter, engraver and architect of the Renaissance working in Regensburg, Bavaria. Along with Lucas Cranach the Elder and Wolf Huber he is regarded to be the main representative of the Danube School , setting biblical and historical subjects against landscape backgrounds of expressive colours.
Albrecht Altdorfer (born c. 1480—died Feb. 12, 1538, Regensburg [Germany]) was a German painter, printmaker, and draftsman who was one of the founders of landscape painting. Altdorfer spent most of his life in Regensburg, becoming a citizen in 1505 and in later years serving as official architect of the city and a member of its inner council.
