7 de may. de 2024 · The town of Nininger was named for its founder, John Nininger. A St. Paul and Philadelphia businessman with real estate interests in Minnesota, Nininger was brother-in-law to territorial governor Alexander Ramsey. Business partner Ignatius Donnelly joined him in a new venture in the fall of 1856.

Hace 6 días · The first Territorial Governor for Minnesota was Alexander Ramsey, who lived in Mendota, Dakota County in 1849. Ramsey served in this role from 1849 – 1853, before being elected Mayor of St. Paul. On May 11, 1858, Minnesota was officially admitted as the 32nd state of the United States of America.

In 2018, over 1,000 Amish live in the area. Their presence has provided Harmony with a lucrative tourism business.
