17 de mar. de 2015 · Anne spent large sums of money on Somerset House (her residence in London) and re-named it Denmark House. Neither Anne nor James had any real understanding of finance – both believed that if they needed something, they should have it. The early death of Henry in 1612 meant that Anne’s second son, Charles, became the heir to the throne.
When Augustus became Elector in 1553 following the death of his brother Maurice, they lived mainly in Dresden. They had fifteen children, four of whom reached adulthood. Their marriage was considered to be harmonious. Anna of Denmark was a great writer of letters and kept a good archive of her correspondence.
Anne of Denmark and contrary winds. Anne of Denmark (1574–1619) was the wife of King James VI and I, and as such Queen of Scotland from their marriage by proxy on 20 August 1589 and Queen of England and Ireland from 24 March 1603 until her death in 1619. When Anne intended to sail to Scotland in 1589 her ship was delayed by adverse weather.

There was also a ceremony of joyous entry into Edinburgh on 19 May, an opportunity for spectacle and theatre and allegorical tableaux promoting civic and national identities, similar in many respects to those performed in many other European towns.

Chapter 8 : The End of an Era. In the year 1600, another quarrel broke out between the royal couple. The bizarre Gowrie plot caused a rupture between them, when Anne apparently refused to believe that Ruthven could possibly had meant to attack James. He was one of James ’ attendants, and his sister, Beatrice, was one of her own favourite ladies.

Anne was born at Skanderborg Castle in Denmark, the daughter of Frederick II of Denmark & Norway, and Sophia of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. In August 1589 and still only 14 years old, Anne was married by proxy to the 23 year old James VI of Scotland.
