He had a long and highly controversial career as a theologian, and was an able and influential philosopher.
Antoine Arnauld (6 February 1612 – 8 August 1694) was a French Catholic theologian, philosopher and mathematician. He was one of the leading intellectuals of the Jansenist group of Port-Royal and had a very thorough knowledge of patristics .

Antoine Arnauld fue un filósofo, teólogo y matemático francés que nació en París el 6 de febrero de 1612. Comenzó los estudios de Derecho, pero se decantó por la Teología y se matriculó en la Sorbona, donde consiguió el doctorado. En 1641 se ordenó sacerdote y pronto inició una polémica sobre la renovación moral y religiosa.
