Hace 1 día · This is a strikingly columnar intrusion of Dunsapie-type olivine basalt within the south-western margin of the Arthur's Seat vent. It is believed to have formed a feeder channel to adjacent lava flows within the vent. Erosion since Carboniferous times has stripped off the rocks surrounding the volcano and revealed these intrusions within the vent.
