Hace 4 días · In 1880 Wilhelm became engaged to Princess Augusta Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein, known as "Dona". The couple married on 27 February 1881, and their marriage lasted 40 years until her death in 1921. Between 1882 and 1892, Augusta bore Wilhelm seven children, six sons and a daughter.

Just over a month later – on 20th June – the baby was baptised in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle, where she received the names Victoria Louise Sophia Augusta Amelia Helena; although she was officially known as Helena Victoria.

Few would have ever thought that during WW2, the Nazi party chose a detached house in Bexhill-on-Sea as the location to send their daughters when it came time to attend finishing school. Augusta Victoria College was the name of the school.

Her nationality was seen as important and Victoria Adelaide lacked any non-German or Jewish ancestry. The young man was told to propose to her and he obliged.
