El Paranthropus robustus, o Australopithecus robustus, es una especie de homínido que vivió hace 1,8 a 1,2 millones de años en Sudáfrica. Debe su nombre al paleontólogo Robert Broom, quien realizó el descubrimiento de la especie en Sudáfrica en 1938.
Puede haber debates sobre la filogenia del australopiteco en relación con el Homo, pero hoy nadie pone en duda que el Australopithecus robustus y el Australopithecus boisei están fuera de esta línea, extinguiéndose hace 700.000 años y calculándose su aparición hace aproximadamente 2 millones de años.

Paranthropus robustus is a species of robust australopithecine from the Early and possibly Middle Pleistocene of the Cradle of Humankind, South Africa, about 2.27 to 0.87 (or, more conservatively, 2 to 1) million years ago. It has been identified in Kromdraai, Swartkrans, Sterkfontein, Gondolin, Cooper's, and Drimolen Caves.
