Bar-le-Duc ( /baʁ.lə.dyk/ Note 1) est une commune française située dans le département de la Meuse, en région Grand Est. Elle se trouve dans la région historique et culturelle de Lorraine . L'existence de l'agglomération remonte à l' Antiquité où elle est un relais le long de la voie romaine reliant Reims à Metz.
Bar-le-Duc, capital of Meuse département, Grand Est région, northeastern France. It extends out along the narrow valley of the Ornain River, west of Nancy. To the northeast is the Canal de la Marne au Rhin, on the southwest the Canal des Usines. The Ornain River valley is enclosed by wooded and vine-clad hills.

City capital of the department of Meuse, coupled with Griesheim and Gyönk, Bar-le-Duc is in a green area 200 km from Paris. It is surrounded by forests, crossed by the river Ornain and served by the TGV East European and Canal Marne au Rhin. Bar-le-Duc is the "Capital of gooseberry."
