Belinda Jo Carlisle (/ ˈ k ɑːr l aɪ l / KAR-lyle; born August 17, 1958) is an American singer and songwriter. She gained fame as the lead vocalist of the Go-Go's, the most successful all-female rock band of all time, and went on to have a prolific career as a solo artist.

Her parents were Harold Carlisle, a gas station employee, and his wife, Joanne (née Thompson), a homemaker. Belinda was named after her mother's favourite film, Johnny Belinda (1948).
