Today it’s unique in the Cairngorms National Park as it is managed by the community, who stepped in to save its richly ornamented interior, sinister dungeons and rickety roofs from gradual dereliction in 2007.

Braemar is also home to the Gaelic College of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, which offers courses in Scottish Gaelic culture and language.
