When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.
The film, set and shot in Johannesburg, is about an artificial general intelligence law enforcement robot captured and taught by gangsters, who nickname it Chappie. Chappie premiered in New York City on March 4, 2015, and was released in U.S. cinemas on March 6, 2015.

Deon roba un robot dañado antes de que sea destruido, llevándolo en su camioneta. En el camino es secuestrado por un grupo de pandilleros, Ninja (Watkin Tudor Jones), Yolandi (Yolandi Visser) y Amerika (José Pablo Cantillo), y obligado a reprogramar al robot
Tras obtener el nombre de Chappie, el robot comienza a trabajar para Ninja, quien lo engaña sobre sus intenciones desde el inicio. A la par de esto, Vincent Moore, un soldado convertido en ingeniero, falla en vender su proyecto MOOSE al gobierno.
