- WHY CHARLES
The system of study at Charles University has been designed to maximise our integration into the international community of higher education institutions (HEIs) and to support student mobility. Our system creates flexible learning pathways between different degree programmes – not only the programmes provided by CU but also programmes run by other universities, including institutions abroad.
According to the newly published international QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, Charles University has improved in three fields. In total, CU was ranked in 25 subjects: in 22 of them CU is the highest-ranked Czech university ever. In addition, it made a completely new appearance in the ranking in four fields year-on-year.
It is one of the oldest universities in the world in continuous operation, the first university north of the Alps and east of Paris. [3] Today, the university consists of 17 faculties located in Prague, Hradec Králové, and Plzeň. Charles University is in the top three universities in Central and Eastern Europe.
