En un principio, Lee comenzó dichos experimentos con la minería de bitcoins. Para ello, se puso en contacto con Mike Hearn. Hearn era un desarrollador que trabajaba en el software cliente core blockchain para Bitcoin. El trabajo en conjunto con Hearn sirvió a Charlie Lee como inspiración para desarrollar su propia moneda digital.

È qui che nel 1995 si diploma al liceo, per poi spostarsi in Massachussets e frequentare il MIT, una delle più importanti università di ricerca del mondo.

Charlie Lee is undoubtedly a great computer scientist, but he is best known for being the creator of Litecoin, a software variation of Bitcoin. Lee was born on April 13, 1975 in Ivory Coast, West Africa. At the age of 13 he moved to the United States with his family. During his time in New Jersey he graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1995.
