Hace 2 días · Charlotte, city, seat (1774) of Mecklenburg county, south-central North Carolina, U.S. It lies just east of the Catawba River in the Piedmont region. It was settled about 1750 and incorporated in 1768. The city was named for Princess Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, George III’s queen.
