To begin this journey, the first thing to do is to visit the Malecon de la Bahia, where you will see the most representative monuments of Chetumal. One of my favorite places in Chetumal, Boulevard Bahia is a lively avenue along the coast. It has a nice area where people can enjoy the nice view of the ocean, watch the sunset, bike around, enjoy street food, or simply to people watch. During the evening, this little plaza/ boulevard becomes lively with a lot of food stalls set up for the night.
Flag Promenade is also located along Bahia Boulevard. North America. The capital of Quintana Roo, Chetumal is a relatively quiet city going about its daily paces. The bayside esplanade hosts carnivals and events, and the modern Maya museum is impressive (though a bit short on artifacts). Excellent Maya ruins, amazing jungle and the border to neighboring Belize are all close by.
