Since the 1990s he has created homes, schools, churches and shelters in countries including Rwanda, Kobe, Turkey and Haiti. The Christ Church Cathedral restoration is known as the ‘cardboard cathedral.’
Paper Church. This community center was built by church volunteers whose house of worship was destroyed by Kobe earthquake in 1995. Materials were donated by a number of companies, and construction was completed in only five weeks by the 160 volunteers. The plan (10 x 15m) is enclosed within a skin of corrugated, polycarbonate sheeting.

Ban took this pro-bono project in collaboration with Warren and Mahoney and led its design, construction, and the reopen on 2013 August 2nd for its blessing, as a part of Christchurch, after a lot of legal and religious issues which delayed the construction.
