A brief history. Clarence House was first built between 1825 and 1827 for The Duke of Clarence (later King William IV) and his wife Adelaide. It was designed by architect John Nash. From 1949 to 1952 it was the home of Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, and later The Queen Mother, who lived at Clarence House for 50 years.
Currently, Clarence House is the London residence of King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla. They will continue to use Clarence House as their London home until at least 2027 while renovations to Buckingham Palace are ongoing. Buckingham Palace will remain the administrative headquarters for the monarchy and the location of state events.
I was on a mission of seeing all the quintessential London tourist spots which as a local I had never actually visited myself and when booking my tickets online for the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace I came across the option of visiting Clarence House. As they say “in for a penny, in for a pound” so I also booked a tour of Clarence house.

It is a beautiful white four-storey house building standing on the Mall. It was designed by John Nash in 1827. It was commissioned by King George III’s third son, the Duke of Clarence, who later became King William IV. One of longest residents here has been Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
