Dartmouth sent many ships to join the English fleet against the Spanish armada, the armadas’ ‘payship’ was captured and anchored in Dartmouth harbour. The town is home to the Britannia Royal Naval College which has been at the forefront of the education and development of world-class Naval Officers since 1863 and where the Queen met her future husband.

11 de sept. de 2023 · A great way to spend a couple of hours in Dartmouth. Our guide Nichola was exceptional. Hugely knowledgeable and an alumni of the college, she managed to tell us the history of both the college and the building , the way cadets are trained today, and lots about the culture and language of the Royal Navy, interspersed with lovely anecdotes.
