The Duchy of Brunswick (German: Herzogtum Braunschweig) was a historical German state. Its capital was the city of Brunswick (Braunschweig). It was established as the successor state of the Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel by the Congress of Vienna in 1815.

The Duchy of Brunswick ( German: Herzogtum Braunschweig) was a historical German state. Its capital was the city of Brunswick ( Braunschweig ). It was established as the successor state of the Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel by the Congress of Vienna in 1815.
The duchy* of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, in northern Germany, consisted of nine distinct areas that were not all connected to each other. During the Renaissance, it became a center of scholarship and home to one of the largest libraries in Europe.
As a result of the Vienna Congress, its successor state, the Duchy of Brunswick, was created in 1814. The following is a list of all the reigning princes of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel.
