Hace 2 días · The Duchy of Pomerania (German: Herzogtum Pommern; Polish: Księstwo pomorskie; Latin: Ducatus Pomeraniae) was a duchy in Pomerania on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea, ruled by dukes of the House of Pomerania (Griffins). The country existed in the Middle Ages between years 1121–1160, 1264–1295, 1478–1531, and 1625–1637.

Hace 5 días · In the 12th century, the Duchy of Pomerania (western part), as a vassal state of Poland, became Christian under saint Otto of Bamberg (the Apostle of the Pomeranians); at the same time Pomerelia (eastern part) became a part of diocese of Włocławek within Poland.

It resembled the territory of the former Duchy of Pomerania , which after the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 had been split between Brandenburg-Prussia and Sweden.

24 de abr. de 2024 · Stralsund, a port at the Baltic Sea in Swedish Pomerania, was surrendered to France after the siege of 1807 during the War of the Fourth Coalition. During this war, Prussian captain Ferdinand von Schill distinguished himself by cutting off French supply lines using guerrilla tactics in 1806.

Hundreds of years ago in Pomerania, the ancestors of the Pomeranian were bred from larger Arctic sled dogs. However, the first records of the breed appear in the late 18 th century.
