3 de may. de 2024 · Meanwhile, with Guise ascendant in Montmorency's absence, the duc secured the capture of Calais from England in January 1558, bringing the city that had been in English hands for 200 years back into the control of the French crown. By this means Guise made his name as 'the greatest captain in France'.

It shows the festivities at Tuileries Palace in Paris in September of 1573, which welcomed Polish ambassadors as they had come to guide Henry I to become king of Poland.

François Joseph de Lorraine (28 August 1670 – 16 March 1675), 7th Duke of Guise, Duke of Alençon and Duke of Angoulême, was the only son of Louis Joseph de Lorraine, Duke of Guise and Élisabeth Marguerite d'Orléans, suo jure Dduchess of Alençon. He was also a descendant of Catherine de Medici .
