Wallis and her first husband, Earl W. Spencer, 1918. In April 1916, Wallis met Earl Winfield Spencer Jr., a US Navy aviator, in Pensacola, Florida, while visiting her cousin Corinne Mustin. It was at this time that Wallis witnessed two airplane crashes about two weeks apart, resulting in a lifelong fear of flying.

Simpson's second wife was Wallis Warfield Spencer (1896–1986), the Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania-born former wife of Earl Winfield Spencer Jr. and the only child of Teackle Wallis Warfield. They married in London, England, on 21 July 1928, and divorced on 3 May 1937.
9 de nov. de 2021 · One Sunday afternoon, Win locked Wallis into the bathroom of their apartment. For hours, she struggled to free herself until she was forced to give up. He eventually unlocked the door but did not open it, and Wallis was terrified to try and open the door. When she finally did so hours later, the apartment was dark, and Win was asleep in bed.
