We see his selfishness again when he and Al are defeated by Scar. Ed ignores Al telling him to run away or at least try to keep fighting, entirely ignores Al's feelings and opinions. Instead, he takes it all has to be about him, to the point that he demands Scar kill him as a sort of promise not to kill his brother.
