His creation of the syllabary is particularly noteworthy as he was illiterate until its creation. [3] He first experimented with logograms, but his system later developed into the syllabary.

This trait where b & v are different versions of the same sound (or phoneme) is called "betacism" if you're curious on learning more. Hebrew's "begadkefat" changes include betacism as a change, but Hebrew no longer has betacism as a trait because of Ancient Hebrew "waw" becoming "vav" (b & v contrast with eachother in some words.)
