Hace 6 días · Beginning in 1979, members of the European Parliament (MEPs) were elected by direct universal suffrage to terms of five years. There are more than 700 members. The number of members per country varies depending on population; for example, France , Germany , Italy , and the United Kingdom have more than 70 MEPs each, while Cyprus , Estonia , Luxembourg , and Malta each have fewer than 7.
